Confessions of a Slow Learner

Okay, I confess my darkest secret:  I am a slow learner.  I am also an independent learner who prefers to research, read, and experiment to learn something new rather than simply ask for help.  I ask for help generally as a last resort because I love the challenge of figuring it all out by myself.

When I started this blog, I had a clear idea of what I wanted the blog to look like, its layout and functions.  I had no idea how to go about getting what I wanted, though.  For instance I wanted to find a way for my readers to subscribe to this blog so they wouldn’t have to keep visiting the blog (not that I mind the visits).

Over many weeks I was gradually able to change the appearance of the blog and add ways that would make navigating the site’s many pages easier, but the subscription option eluded me, until this morning.  I set out to write a blog, but instead of writing I found myself tinkering with the site and found a way to allow folks to subscribe!

Not only that, but I was able to put my gravatar in the side bar with a link to my kennel’s website.  I discovered, too, that I can add images to the side bar, so I will do that as soon as I decided upon the images and whether I’d like to have a slide show.  Now that, I feel, is progress.

  1. I hear you! I like figuring things out for myself as well.

I know you use flickr. I know there are wordpress plug-ins that let you put a gallery or sample slide show of flickr images in your blog sidebar. Plug-ins are a great way to expand the capabilities of wordpress.

  2. Thanks, Mary. Now I have to go figure out how to do Plug-ins. That will be my next project!
